Brynn A. Paulsen is a cognitive scientist, writer, activist and photographer working at the intersections of research, policy, and art.
My academic work explores how the mind controls the flow of information, using tools like fMRI and behavioral modeling to better understand attention, emotion, and mental health.
Beyond the lab, I am deeply committed to bridging science and society. Through a combination of community outreach, scientific writing, and activism, I share scientific insights in accessible ways and highlight how research impacts our daily lives. As part of my work in activism, I help organize local volunteers to mobilize the fight for science-based policies, as well as assist in coordinating both targeted and general audience messaging.
Photography and creative writing are other lenses through which I explore human experience. My photojournalism focuses on political movements, while my editorial photography leans into the cinematic, highlighting mood and narrative. Soon, I’ll also be sharing creative writing on my Medium account - short essays and reflections that blur the line between science and story.
At the core of all my work is a simple goal: to make science, art, and human wellness accessible - and to spark curiosity and gratitude towards the world we share.
