Brynn A. Paulsen is a cognitive scientist, writer, activist and photographer working at the intersections of research, policy, and art.
My academic work explores how the mind controls information in mind, using tools like fMRI and behavioral modeling to better understand attention, emotion, and mental health.
Beyond the lab, I am deeply committed to bridging science and society. Through outreach, writing, and activism, I share scientific insights in accessible ways and highlight how research impacts our daily lives. As part of my work in science communication, I contribute to projects that connect evidence to policy, public dialogue, and community engagement.
Photography and storytelling are another lens through which I explore human experience. My photojournalism captures politics, culture, and the quiet strangeness of everyday life, while my editorial photography leans into the cinematic, highlighting mood and narrative. Soon, I’ll also be sharing creative writing on my Medium account - short essays, reflections, and experimental pieces that blur the line between science and story.
At the core of all my work is a simple goal: to make science, art, and human wellness accessible - and to spark curiosity about the world we share.
